BUILDING A STRONG FOUNDATION

Playgroup: 2.8 to 3.5 years

Nursery: 3.8 to 4.5 years

Kindergarten: 4.8 to 5.5 years

The early years are the most vital years for making a difference in the curious mind of a child’s personality. We at SOAR STEM Schools, want our students to gain an early exposure to all the academic disciplines’ by venturing into a world of knowledge that is developmentally appropriate at their age level.

 

WHAT DO WE OFFER YOUR CHILD?

Children are individuals who develop at different rates. They exhibit a range of skills and competencies in any domain of development. Young children learn through active exploration of their environment in child-initiated and teacher-initiated activities.

 

Our Schools provide excellent education and a curriculum which uses a multidisciplinary approach that prepares its pupils for the international world while retaining their values and culture through a strong focus on language skills. In addition, by integrating the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, STEM lies at the heart of early years classrooms.

LANGUAGE ENRICHED ENVIRONMENT

In high-quality Early Years education, we have a strong focus on communication through the art of storytelling. This leads to a nourishing environment where children feel accepted and encouraged to express themselves and to take risks in their initial attempts at reading, writing, and spelling.

 

The frequency, repetition, and depth of their experiences through storytelling are fundamental to their progress in interpreting and appreciating what they hear, respond to and observe.

 

PLAY-BASED LEARNING

Early years education at SOAR follows Play-based early learning which is childhood education based on child-led and open-ended play. If you’re picturing preschoolers, ‘finger painting’ or ‘playing house, you’re spot on.

 

The play itself is a voluntary, enjoyable activity with no purpose or end goal. Believe it or not, activities like this lay the foundation for a child to become a curious and excited learner later in life. Play-based learning helps children develop social skills, motivation to learn, and even language and numeracy skills. Taking initiative, focused attention, and curiosity about the world are all a part of the play.

 

INTERNATIONAL MINDEDNESS

“The senses, being explorers of the world, open the way to knowledge. Our apparatus for educating the senses offers the child a key to guide his explorations of the world.” Montessori M, 1988.

 

We at SOAR, believe that exposing young minds to content related to diverse cultures helps them understand, respect, and value different cultures. Through international mindedness, students can work in harmony with peers from around the world, learn from each other and learn about different perspectives.

 

It helps students embrace diversity and realize that different perspectives have a great deal to offer. It also helps to promote respect, empathy, and compassion that foster global citizens.

 

WHAT IS OUR CLASSROOM MODEL?

Playing and exploring – children investigate and experience things, and ‘have a go’ at different experiences through Messy and Sensorial Play that builds their social and communication skills.

 

Active learning – learning in which the children, by acting on objects and interacting with people, ideas and events, constructs new understanding. We believe that no one else can have experiences for the child; children must do this for themselves. They concentrate and keep on trying if and when they encounter difficulties, and enjoy achievements through active learning strategies.

 

Creating and Thinking Critically – having preconceived notions, children develop their ideas, make links between them and devise strategies for problem-solving and reasoning through STEM education. These STEM activities foster a love for learning through smart and age-appropriate challenges.

 

ENABLING ENVIRONMENT

Our classrooms provide a rich, varied and safe space in a setting in which children can play, explore and learn. These child-centered classrooms contribute greatly to children's learning and development. When children feel emotionally safe and secure, they are able to explore and find out about the place they are in and the things they can see, touch, or manipulate.

 

For skill development, our classrooms use learning centers, especially focusing on MAKER SPACE, where students make connections with real-word learning.

 

PARENTS AS PALS

Families are the primary caregivers and educators of young children. We have a strong partnership with parents and ensure each parent is kept up-to-date on their child's learning and development through Google classroom.
